Title Supporting Couple Relationships: A Sourcebook for Practitioners (Reynolds, J. and One Plus One, 2008)
The Sourcebook is for practitioners who work with families. It provides a comprehensive summary of the evidence base for working with families to support the couple relationship. It comprises of 3 sections:
- Part 1 summarises the research evidence and policy that highlights the importance of supporting the couple relationship for children's well-being.
- Part 2 is an overview of how relationships work, what happens when they are under pressure and details research about the impact of the couple relationship on children and adults.
- Part 3 is called 'Working with couple relationships' and highlights key skills practitioners need to support couples (whether they are together or separated). A case study is provided in this section to help the worker understand and practise the skills of listening, exploring and understanding. As well as providing resources for further support and referral.
