Parentline Plus provides a free 24 hour confidential helpline to parents staffed by trained volunteers. We offer information and support and the chance to talk through the issues facing parents. In our eleven local offices, we run outreach sessions and parenting courses and workshops. We were formed in 1999 from the merger of three long established charities and a number of small local charities.
We are using the Parenting Fund to deliver a coordinated parent support service in Peterborough in collaboration with local agencies. It will be aimed at filling service gaps, especially for those parents currently less well served.
A Project Co-ordinator and a Service Co-ordinator are being recruited to the project. They will:
- forge links with other local agencies and draw parents into the project
- recruit, train and supervise parents as sessional workers to provide support to other parents
- pilot new drop-in centres in and around Peterborough that will provide parents with information about services available to them
- promote parenting groups and courses to local parents and agencies
- deliver universal 'open access' parenting groups and courses.
