Parentalk is a national charity dedicated to inspiring and equipping mums and dads. We were launched in response to research indicating that one in three parents feels like a failure. We produce a wide range of resources and services for parents, initiatives for employers and their employees, parent coaching and an extensive website. Everything we do helps parents to make the most of every stage of their child's growing up. We are a charity set up in 1998.
We are using the Parenting Fund grant to set up our office in NE Lincolnshire and increase the number of parenting courses and the amount of parenting skills training in the area.
We expect to:
- deliver at least 15 Parenting Courses in the region by mid 2006
- facilitate the growth of courses for parents in the area by recruiting future facilitators
- increase the number of parenting courses for less well-served groups - Dads, parents of children with special needs and parents of children with disabilities
- build capacity by funding Parentalk workers to gain the City & Guilds 730 qualification (for teaching short courses to adults)
- deliver at least two Parentalk Events - one on the parenting of 0-5's and one on general parenting. These events will be run in partnership with other local agencies and provide an opportunity for them to explain to parents what they do
- train at least 15 Parent Facilitators. They will be recruited from among participants in the early Parentalk courses and from other local parenting organisations
- equip 12 local parent workers to offer Parent Coaching to others in their day-to-day work (1 training day)
- strengthen existing, and foster new, alliances with local parenting and family support providers.
