Set up in 1918, One Parent Families offers information and advice to lone parents, gives them a voice and is a source of expertise and advice in improving services and changing attitudes. We are a charity.
We have developed a new project to address the needs of lone parents with a disabled child or children. The project, which has been developed in collaboration with Contact a Family and Gingerbread, will provide telephone advice, printed, and web-based information to lone parents in need. A key feature will be the development of a peer support network for lone parents using e-newsletters and an on-line forum.
We believe that this project will enable lone parents with a disabled child/children to provide the best possible opportunities and environment for their children. It will contribute to a stable and secure family life and help parents make the most of their potential.
