Asperger Norfolk is a charity offering integrated and holistic support for people of all ages with Asperger's Syndrome and related Autistic Spectrum Disorders. We were established in 1997.
We are using the Parenting Fund to deliver a Parent Support Project in the Districts of Norwich, Great Yarmouth and North Norfolk.
We will be working with parents of children and young people affected by Asperger's syndrome [AS] or similar Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
Our aims include:
- improving parental skills related to AS
- reducing isolation and pressure experienced by parents/families
- assisting in accessing other services
- increasing awareness of AS in the community
- researching other needs through parental contacts.
The work will be delivered by:
- group seminars
- home visits
- telephone helpline
- create a library/resource base
- linking with Asperger East's other projects including children's projects, youth projects, employment support and school inclusion
- linking with other agencies, organisations and professionals
- self help and support.
