Our aim is to improve the life chances of children living in the Norwich area by supporting their parents and carers. Through our Home-visiting service and Parent Support Groups, we provide parents with reassurance, support, friendship and help. We give them the confidence to develop their parenting skills. We are a charity set up in 1994.
The Parenting Fund is being used to make both our projects more widely available to parents across Norwich
The Home-visiting service (Norwich Family Friends) supports parents where there are families under stress or in need, especially those with older children and adolescents. We expect to have a new group of trained volunteers working for this service by mid 2005. By expanding the project we are able to make it available throughout the week with an average of 2-3 hours support per family per week. Families could either self refer or be referred by an agency.
The Parenting Support Group will run two groups a week and increase it to three later in 2005. Each session will last two hours with extra time available for one to one discussions. Participants can be referred by agencies that we work with locally or they may self-refer.
