Our role is to promote safe contact between children and parents in the Child Contact Centres used by many parents following separation. We provide expert support and advice to the 318 member Child Contact Centres. We are a charity set up in 1991.
We are using our Parenting Fund grant to deliver a new training programme to Contact Centre staff. The grant will enable staff to help separated and divorced parents form good relationships with their children and to reduce the conflict between the adults involved. This will improve and expand each centre's service to parents and the children in their locality.
By October 2006, the majority of centres will have taken part in a training programme covering all aspects of working safely with parents and their children. It will give them the ability to demonstrate and encourage appropriate parenting skills.
Centres will also be able to provide information on local and regional services that can help the parents manage the effects of separation.
