Mind in Croydon is working to promote good mental health. We work with local people living with or recovering from mental illness, people with mental health problems and their relatives and carers. We are a charity affiliated to National Mind and were set up in 1967.
We run a group for parents with mental health problems in East Croydon. It provides support, companionship and advice and is held in the relaxed setting of a local social club.
With the Parenting Fund grant we are now able to provide an Outreach Service. Mental health problems such as depression and anxiety can cause people to avoid spending time with others. This isolation can make life more difficult for their children. The Outreach workers will maintain contact with group participants who, for whatever reason, miss some of the sessions. They will make home visits and ensure that the group members and their children get the support and services they need.
