Set up in 2001, the James Wolfe Parents' Association is a charity devoted to developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the James Wolfe Primary School in Greenwich. We work to advance the education of pupils through activities or by providing facilities and equipment. We were set up in 2001.

We are using the Parenting Fund to develop the 'Supporting Parents' project. It will offer support to parents/carers living in the West Greenwich and Creekside area.

We will consult with local parents to design and provide a programme of seminars, workshops and training sessions.

Topics may include:

  • positive parenting
  • first aid and life saving
  • stress management
  • assertiveness training
  • dealing with challenging behaviour
  • helping your child with homework
  • understanding the National Curriculum
  • baby massage
  • healthy eating on a budget.

Events will be free of charge and a crèche will be made available at all events.

In addition, the project will establish a resource centre where parents can get information, assistance from the Community Worker, or attend a drop in session run by professionals, including an educational psychologist.
