Home-Start Teesside is a charity that has been delivering family support in the Teesside area, since 1999 as a Home-Start scheme and prior to that since 1981 as an independent organisation called PATCH.
Home-Start offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children in local communities. We recruit and train volunteers, who are usually parents themselves, to visit families at home who have at least one child under 5 and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support.
To help give children the best possible start in life, Home-Start supports parents as they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links with the local community.
Home-Start Teesside will use the Parenting Fund grant to provide home-visiting support to families in need in the Grangetown, South Bank, Eston and Guisborough areas of Redcar and Cleveland. Home-Start is working in partnership with two of the local Sure Start Programmes in the Redcar and Cleveland areas.
Our aim is to provide much needed home-visiting family support in these areas and be available to all families including those who are hard to reach. We also give local parents an opportunity to become Home Start volunteers.
