Sutton Coldfield YMCA is a registered charity whose mission is to provide high quality services in a safe environment where young people can develop and reach their own potential, during their transition from childhood to adulthood. It offers a range of structured services and activities aimed at engaging and developing young people, children and families often experiencing social disadvantage and exclusion.
Y.M.C.A. Parents and Teenagers (Y.P.T.) Disability Project
Our project will target and work intensively and holistically with parents and their children within a key group;
North Birmingham based families with teenage children with special needs and or parents who have special needs
This will; add value to/complement current and planned (2009-11)statutory parenting services in the area, which focuses on mainstream provision; Improve achievement of ECM /Brighter Futures outcomes for young people with special needs.
Project provision will consist of;Targeted support services for parents and families. Parents courses x 4 per yr; Parent mentoring; Parent action groups; Tailored support at key transitional points; Opportunities for positive family experiences; Target 200 families per annum/case-load of 40 families per annum.
