Scope is a national disability organisation whose focus is people with cerebral palsy. We provide a range of support, information and campaigning services, both locally and nationally, in addition to providing opportunities in early years, education, employment and daily living. For more information about cerebral palsy and Scope services, visit www.scope.org.uk
Face 2 Face NE Lincolnshire (Scope) was established with previous Parenting Fund support and provides befriending and support services to parents with disabled children or children with additional support needs.
Round 3 funding will enable us to expand provision to:
- Strengthen family relationships by providing support at times of crisis or difficulty
- Promote stronger family relationships and positive interaction by improving parental skills and confidence
- Equip professionals and supporters with the skills to work empathically with families to support positive relationships
- Promote inclusion and strengthen networks supporting parents of disabled children.
We will achieve this by:
- Training additional parent volunteers to provide emotional support to parents through befriending
- Developing services with Contact Centres to support parents of disabled children going through separation or divorce
- Developing appropriate information, support and activities for local dads encouraging interaction with their children and promoting positive fatherhood
- Delivering proven training packages, workshops and events to raise awareness, improve skills and knowledge amongst professionals and supporters.
We estimate that 650 parents of disabled children and extended family members and 250 professionals working with families of disabled children will benefit from this project.
The service is managed by Scope and is part the national Face 2 Face Network.
