One25 has been working for 14 years in Bristol, benefiting women who are abused and socially marginalised through involvement in street based sex work. Their lives are characterised by chronic ill-health, life-controlling addictions, homelessness and the daily threat of extreme violence.
Our mission is to enable these women to:
- Break free from this abusive lifestyle and achieve their full potential
- Make healthy life choices and foster positive relationships with their families and communities.
Naomi House – staff costs and drug testing
Naomi House is an intensively supported, residential home that safeguards the health of children born to substance-addicted mothers, prioritising those women with a history of sex-work. It provides support to women who want to change and become equipped with skills to raise their children in a safe, loving environment. The house can take up to 5 women and 6 babies (under 3 years old) at a time.
The staff are responsible for regularly reviewing each family's individual care plan and assessing their needs with the mother and all relevant parties using a specialised spidergram evaluation tool. They provide a developmental weekly programme of therapeutic and practical activities which enables the mothers to address their life-controlling issues and develop skills for independent living in the wider community. Ultimately, the project aims to give the families the best possible start in life by breaking the generational cycles of deprivation that perpetuate social problems and help each family to thrive and input into their local community.
