The YMCA England vision is of an inclusive Christian Movement, transforming communities so that all young people truly belong, contribute and thrive.
We are using the Parenting Fund grant for the Families and Communities Staying Connected Project. This programme will support children whose family background is directly affecting their ability to learn, behave appropriately in school, and cope within their social and educational environment. This support will also extend to liaising directly with other professionals and parents.
The Families Staying Connected team will develop an individual package for each child and family that was referred to the project. In some cases they may only require one element in more complex cases the team would develop a plan of work using various parts of the service.
We now offer a whole range of services including:
- Work in schools, children centres or at our centre at Winton House
- Child Counselling
- Contact - assessed, supervised, supported and indirect
- Parenting and Young Persons help and support
- Parenting Information Programmes
- Staying Connected Programme supporting resident and non resident parents
- E-Play Staffordshire, our supervised interactive internet software package
- Qualified child counsellors, social workers and support workers specialising in family breakdown
- Neighbourhood Mediation
The core service of the organisation is to offer support to parents, children and young people (0-18 years) adversely affected by the breakdown of family relationships. This includes child counselling, play therapy, court ordered assessments of contact, supervised child contact, life story work, parenting and mediation work with separating/divorcing parents. The parenting and contact work is provided at various contact and children's centres. We will work with 234 families per year
