Leeway provides specialist support and advice to women and children who are experiencing Domestic Abuse. Leeway believes in partnership working to prioritise the safety of women and children, and aim to empower their clients by providing them with the time, space and support they need to make safe decisions about their future. Through a range of services Leeway provides confidential, impartial and tailored support to meet the needs of women and children.
Leeway's Parenting service will provide parenting advice and support to 76 women who have children throughout the 2 year project, across Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk and Norwich and will focus on families in our refuges. A parenting worker will support parents, to support their children with their experiences of domestic violence. The service will focus on coping strategies and any behavioral difficulties the children have, in order to strengthen family relationships. The worker will carry out both one to one and group sessions aimed to support women to understand their children's experiences, help women access other services that may be able to provide additional support, assist mothers in safeguarding their children and to discuss any issues and concerns with the child. Progress with the parent will be monitored using a combination of Leeway's support plans and performance indicators.
