Impact Family Services offers a range of support to parents, particularly regarding issues linked to separation and divorce. These include child contact centres, family mediation service, parental support and advice and a voluntary domestic violence perpetrator programme for men. We contribute to South Tyneside's parenting offer via universal and targeted services.
Through PFR3 our Family Support Team is able to offer individual support to every parent using the South Tyneside Child Contact Centre; offer individual parenting support and advice to separated parents living in the borough; encourage the use of escorted contact to enable contact to move into the community; encourage parents leaving the child contact centre to draw up a Parental Contact Agreement with a Family Mediator; offer group work intervention to men who acknowledge they have been abusive in an intimate relationship and would like to change.
Our targets are:
- 90 parents per year using the Child Contact Centre offered individual advice and support
- 10 separated parents (who do not use the CCC) will be offered individual support to address issues around separation, contact and parenting
- 6 workshops per year covering Childhood Illness and Healthy Eating
- 10 men pa will be supported by Impact staff to complete a perpetrator programme
- 30 parental contact agreements drawn up with support of a Family Mediator
- 20 parents undertake a co-parenting programme.
