Project Summary
East Birmingham Community Forum will be utilising this funding for the development, strengthening and expansion of its existing Parenting Funded work - extending the geographical reach of the project, employing Project Workers on a full-time (rather than part-time) basis, and responding specifically to additional needs identified by beneficiaries.
The project will:
- Continue to engage with BME parents and support them in strengthening their parenting skills
- Raise awareness and understanding of issues relating to crime, education and health
- Continue to implement and strengthen the development of parent meetings to discuss issues of concern and formulate local solutions
- Continue to develop and deliver workshops using participative tools to meet the needs of BME parents and teenagers
- Continue to develop a range of 'diversionary activities' to encourage participation and engagement from disadvantaged and 'hard to reach' communities
- Introduction of an accredited 'strengthening families, strengthening communities parent programme', invigilated by Race Equality Foundation, offering certificates to successful participants.
