Parenting Matters-Cornwall
Action for Children will provide a bespoke project: Parenting Matters-Cornwall which will support parents of children and teenagers aged 7-19 who are experiencing difficulties in managing their children's behaviour. This may be due to substance misuse, mental illness or domestic violence.
The project will deliver 22 evidence based programmes and support 150 families across Cornwall; using a flexible approach delivering some aspects of each programme on a one to one basis to encourage hard to reach families to attend a group.
The project aims to reduce the numbers of children and young people going into care, becoming subject to formal protection plans, or who are considered to be 'at risk'. We also aim to increase parent's confidence by developing their parenting skills.
All work will follow evidence based programmes including: Triple P for Teenagers, Living with Parents, Time out for Teenagers and Escape/Parallel Lines.
