Funding round
We are using our grant in Round 2 to deliver our 'Supporting the parents of adolescents' course in three areas in partnership with local trainers from the voluntary sector. This follows our successful development and use of the course in Round 1. We expect to:
- Develop the workforce to provide effective support for the parents of adolescents
- Increase direct work with the parents of adolescents
- Build the training capacity of the voluntary sector
- Carry out qualitative research with parents. This will increase understanding of the needs of parents whose young people experience mental health difficulties and further inform the development of training. The results will be published and disseminated.
- Develop and pilot a training day on working with the parents of young people with mental health issues. We will aim to get this course accredited as a specialist module, following on from the core course
- Reach practitioners and parents through our partner agencies, contacts, local parenting forums, local parenting coordinators and voluntary sector agencies.
