Following our Round 1 project we are continuing our work with the parents of children with a disability and expect:

  • Establish a scheme in East Cornwall to reduce gaps in Parent 2 Parent service provision by:
    • Recruiting and training parent volunteers
    • Reducing identified gaps in service e.g. for parents of children with a disability in rural and coastal isolation.
    • Extending our service and training capacity to other parents and hard to reach groups by developing a parent-led steering group
  • Provide targeted support to local parents throughout Cornwall by:
    • Organising Family Events/Days
    • Developing parents' confidence to access further training, employment and volunteering opportunities
  • Offering more training opportunities to parents of disabled children by:
    • Developing and sustaining a parent-led steering group so that future provision is led by parents
    • Training experienced parent volunteers to become confident in engaging gain with parents
  • Working with partners to develop information and resources by:
    • Developing parental training resources and expertise within the county
    • Researching the possible development of a helpline and information service with local partners
