In our project we are working with teenage parents to provide them with personal development plans and mentoring. It will work through a one to one mentoring relationship to devise the plan and put it into effect. This will be underpinned by a series of workshops designed with participants for teenage parents, partners and families from a range of diverse cultural and social backgrounds to develop:

  • More effective parenting skills
  • Confidence, self esteem and coping skills
  • Access to and use of services in the community
  • Transition strategies - supporting re-integration pre-16 and progression post-16

Grandparents are encouraged to participate in the programme as supporters and learners in their own right. A beneficiares' forum will work with stakeholders, statutory agencies and programme staff to shape the future of the programme.

Participants will come to us from a range of stakeholders including the Teenage Pregnancy Team, Connexions, Sure Start and local community groups.
