REU Birmingham are to take another significant step in improving the quality and quantity of support available to black and minority ethnic parents by extending the reach of the Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities Parent programme (SFSC) in Birmingham. There will be a particular focus on strengthening the capacity of services to support black and minority ethnic fathers.
The Parenting Fund project will provide
- Training for at least 30 individuals from 15 organisations, or more, to deliver SFSC to parents.
- Additional training for at least 60 individuals from 30 organisations or more for work directed at fathers.
To ensure a high standard of delivery we will provide:
- Expert advice and information on the implementation of SFSC, including additional training in co-facilitation and group work
- Intensive support and supervision to at least 30 organisations, including implementing the quality assurance system
- Financial and practical support to pump prime the delivery of at least 15 SFSC programmes to parents (including fathers) in Birmingham
To strengthen the local infrastructure on parenting support we will:
- Participate in six local and national events to publicise this work
- Work with Birmingham based members of networks such as United Kingdom Fatherhood Forum (UKFF) and the recently established REU father's network to secure support and resources
