Funding round
We wish to develop and expand the work we started with Round 1 Parenting Fund money. This allowed us to extend both the geographical area we worked in and the range of families we worked with. We were very much welcomed by families and professionals in these areas and now want to build on this as follows:
- To continue and expand the family support we are now providing in these areas - promoting social inclusion.
- To develop the joint work initiatives we had begun in these areas such as parenting skills groups with schools and health workers. For example we have been in discussions with a health and education team about jointly running a parenting skills course at a health centre in an area of east Leeds with very few support services - parenting and adult couple support.
- To develop family support to families with older children who are at risk of being involved in anti social behaviour, criminal activity, drug and alcohol abuse, etc - Respect agenda and Promoting social inclusion.
- To offer support to parents who are experiencing their own difficulties, such as isolation, mental health problems, relationships difficulties etc, which limit their ability to meet their children's needs - Parenting and adult couple support and promoting social inclusion.
- To develop and extend the joint-agency networks we have made in areas of East Leeds with few support services. This includes new links with schools, health centres, social work teams, neighbourhood management teams and the anti social behaviour unit. For example we are now attending a neighbourhood management forum to look at developing services and joint working initiatives in one area.
