Continuing our partnership with the Teenage Pregnancy Unit, we are providing a programme of outreach, workshops, groups and individual support for teenage parents. We are doing this in partnership with the City's Teenage Pregnancy Strategy Partnership. We will reach parents of infant school children via a programme of community based out reach work (with all the 44 infant and junior schools in the identified areas of Aspley, Bilborough, St Ann's, Bulwell & Bestwood) and provide an organic programme of workshops and courses, culminating in 'Time to Talk About Sex'. We will develop a programme of work with prisoners' / ex-prisoners' families in Nottingham, providing parenting support for couples pre and post release to strengthen family ties and increase capacity for effective parenting - via one to one and holistic family support, and providing information and support to many more.
In partnership with the City YOT and key schools we will help develop integrated packages of parent support to help prevent or lessen anti social behaviour, and to tackle issues around school exclusion, by providing a range of parent support services for parents whose children have offended, or who are likely to offend without intervention. Our emphasis will be to help shape non stigmatising services delivered by parents for parents, and to promote the idea that seeking help is normal, and a positive step for parents. Our ultimate aim is to help parents bring up their children to become emotionally healthy adults able to live happy and fulfilling lives, playing a positive role in the life of their community.
