Parentline Plus provides a holistic range of outreach support for parents. We recognise that parents need different support at different stages and we expect to reach more isolated parents in a variety of ways. Where necessary we will provide intensive tailored support individually or in groups. We expect to reach 3,880 parents in Newcastle over the life of the project by providing a mix of locally based support reinforced by local media work which gets the message through to many more parents. Advertising our national Helpline will also enable us to reach more parents.
This project builds on the parent support network we successfully developed in Round 1 in collaboration with local voluntary and statutory sector providers. Our work will include outreach, individual work, couples work, work with vulnerable groups of parents, and group work. We will be collaborating with the following projects:
Walkergate Children's Centre - works on behavioural issues in younger and older children.
Byker Sands Family Centre - continuation work for parents of children with identified behavioural needs.
Monkchester Family Centre - offer a package for parents to progress through full range of services from informal events through more in depth courses / individual support.
Fathers - establish a support network for fathers in the West End linked to New Deal for community's project through facilitated support groups, drop-ins and fun events.
