The Slough Parenting Support Project wants parenting services in Slough to be well planned and integrated thus maximising resources for families and ensuring that they are integrated with children's services. The Project will link with hard to reach groups such as black, minority ethnic and faith communities in order to improve access to services. It will deliver practitioner support through consultation, training and a regular Practitioners' Group. The project will work closely in partnership with Slough Borough Council, Education and Children's Services and aims to:
- Develop the number/remit/capacity of parenting programmes for all ages, tiers.
- Promote social inclusion and access to services for hard to reach groups.
- Develop a more strategic approach to services to avoid ad hoc delivery.
- Use mapping effectively to develop a strategy for parenting support across Slough.
- Contribute to the delivery of integrated children's services planning (e.g. children's trust/centres/extended schools/health agendas).
- Encourage multi agency delivery of parenting programmes to achieve best value (e.g. through health and social care).
- Develop a generic evaluation and monitoring model.
- Develop common resources/information for practitioners.
Because this is an infrastructure development initiative, parenting services are the project's main beneficiaries
