We are using the Parenting Fund grant to work with Black parents in the following ways:

  • Helping them to address anti social behaviour in the lives of young people within the black community by sharing strategies and techniques on engaging and influencing young people positively
  • Helping parents to become more involved in their children's education and schools.
  • Help black parents to develop better relationships with the organisations and professionals that support their children's development
  • To promote self esteem and confidence in local black parents
  • To enable black parents to network with and support one another
  • Develop effective learning and best practice for engaging black parents that can be shared across the statutory and voluntary sectors

We are offering a friendly and professional drop in centre for parents from the Southwark community to come in and receive support and training in the above areas. This will include one on one support, group work and workshops.
