We are building on our Well Family Service based in Paston by expanding it to the south of the city where we will focus Hampton New Town, an area with significant unsupported transition needs.
It will be an integrated service for families and replicate the model of partnership working elsewhere in the city between Well Family and the Family Hurdles parenting programme.
The service provides:
- Initial advice and information e.g. welfare rights, education, advice, vocational training, housing support, short counselling and problem solving sessions and brief solution focused therapy
- Information and gateway into local specialist services
- Consultation with other professionals/services on meeting parents' needs.
- Development of mutual support networks, groups and activities focussing on specific issues e.g. support for young parents, fathers' groups or in Paston support for Travellers' families
- Initial assessment and coordination of work with parents and children through the Common Assessment Framework and information sharing
- One to one sessions focusing on agreed areas of parenting in their own home
- Linking to Parenting programmes appropriate to the age of the children e.g. Webster Stratton, Peeps, or other ( at least 3 per year, provided by Family Hurdles)
- Identify and disseminate information regarding trends and gaps in provision
- Follow up reviews and evaluations and signposting if appropriate
- Support mechanisms to enable engagement of parents e.g. child care or transport
- Purchase one off specialist support e.g. art therapy, counselling or holiday activities / sessional workers.
