Our aim is to address the challenges faced by Black and minority ethnic (BME) parents of teenagers in East Birmingham.
The objectives of the project are to:
- engage with BME parents and support them in strengthening their parenting skills
- raise awareness and understanding of issues relating to crime, education and health
- develop a parenting programme customised to meet local need
- develop resources to support parenting skills development
We will:
- engage no less than 300 hard to reach BME parents and children
- establish a family resource centre
- deliver a programme of activities for 200 participants to increase parent/children interaction
- utilise collaborative working practices, including with Connexions, local schools and community organisations in relation to referrals, project promotion and signposting for additional support
- assist families to play an active role within our community thus developing community cohesion and greater inclusion
