Our Round 2 project aims to strengthen the co-ordination and development of parenting support services across Newcastle. We are doing this by employing parenting education and support co-ordinators (PESCos) to work across the city. They are:
- Identifying, mapping and co-ordinating providers of parenting support in each of the 3 geographical areas of Newcastle
- Setting up regular meetings between parents and service providers
- Targeting gaps and duplication in local areas in parenting provision
- Working to reduce the barriers that prevent fathers, father figures and male carers becoming more involved in their children's lives and the services that they use
- Providing information to the Children's Information Services and updating the directory of services for parenting.
- Locating and delivering local parenting courses
- Developing work in specialist areas (promoting social inclusion, teenage parents or respect agenda) across the city
