To co-ordinate and deliver parenting group work programmes to parents of teenagers aged 11-17 who are demonstrating behavioural problems. This work focuses promoting inter-agency working by offering training to voluntary and statutory organizations to deliver the parenting programmes. The organisations will support the most disadvantaged and isolated families. The work programme includes:
- skills assessments and training of voluntary and statutory agency staff to equip them with the skills to deliver the 'Living with Teenagers' parenting group work programme
- practitioner forums, where group facilitators can meet to discuss issues affecting their programme
- facilitating interagency liaison, consultancy and other support
- Better strategic planning of parenting support in Leicester City
Over two years, we aim to deliver 18-20 Living with Teenagers parenting groups, training up to 60 professionals. We expect to reach approximately 200 parents. We have strong relationships with voluntary and statutory agencies in Leicester and are confident of their support with this programme.
By increasing family support provision, we aim to:
- prevent/reduce anti-social behaviour by young people;
- promote social inclusion by increasing provision to isolated groups;
- encourage whole family involvement, therefore promoting father and couple involvement.
We also aim to contribute to infrastructure development by equipping organisations with the skills to provide better services to families.
