We are using the grant to build on our successful work with Dads in a small area of Derby by expanding into the Sinfin, Alvaston and Chellaston wards and broadening the focus of our work.
We are doing this by:
- Building and supporting informal support networks for Dads e.g. dads drop in for coffee and chat, sports sessions, dads and toddlers, Saturday brunch clubs.
- Delivering Webster Stratton parenting programmes for fathers. Some of these might be with dads and their partners and some with just dads. We have found in our current work there has been demand for both.
- Encouraging and enabling dads to become childcare volunteers.
- Work with Dads across the city to ensure that their interests are reflected in the work of the Integrated Children and Young Peoples service and in the Children and Young People's Plan.
