Our Parenting Fund project is aimed at socially excluded and geographically remote families and individuals who are affected by Asperger syndrome. We aim to:
- Boost parental self-esteem
- Prevent family breakdown
- Prevent mental health problems in both parents and children:
- by providing early response support to requests for assistance
- by advising on practical behavioural strategies
- by providing hands on assistance with form filling
- by signposting families to other agencies where appropriate and to work in partnership with other agencies
- by setting up self help parent support groups in Norwich, North Norfolk and Great Yarmouth and running parent 'surgeries' in each area on a monthly basis
- by producing regular quarterly newsletters to membership
- by providing information on our website and Asperger syndrome awareness training to local agencies, e.g. Police Community Support officers to prevent youngsters becoming offenders
