Privacy statement
Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 the Family & Parenting Institute has a legal duty to protect any information it collects about you. Please read on for more details about the privacy policy.
What information do we collect online?
We collect information in five ways from visitors to our websites.
1. Registration
You do not have to register to use our websites but if you would like to be kept up-to-date with our work you will need to submit your details via the Register online form.
The information we collect is:
- Your first name
- Your email address
This information is stored securely by our web-hosting company, and is retained until you choose to delete your registration. We use the information to produce aggregate statistical information about our website visitors and to email you to alert you about our work. You can visit our Register pages on the website and change your details at any time. If an email we send out to you is returned more than twice we may automatically remove your details from our database.
2. Our Family Voice panel
If you choose to join our Family Voice your details will be stored securely by our web-hosting company and used by us to contact you about the Panel. We will not share your details with any external companies. If, at any time, you wish to leave the Parents' Panel or change your details, please contact us.
Occasionally we collect information from you via our quizzes and/or online surveys. If any of this information includes personal data we will only use it for aggregated analysis and statistical purposes. If however a survey or quiz is linked to a competition or other promotional feature we will use your details to administer the contest and notify winners and losers.
3. Feedback and Requests for Information
If you complete our online Feedback Form this is sent as an email to us. Once your enquiry has been responded to a "hard copy" of your message will be stored securely by the FPI for twelve months. If we receive a technical query regarding the site we may ask our web-hosting company to contact you directly.
If you make a request for further information about our work via our websites, a "hard copy" of your message will be stored securely by the FPI for twelve months.
4. Purchasing online
Our bookstore and events programmes collect payment information from you in order to process your orders.
