Early Learning Partnership Project
The ELPP - Supporting parents to engage in their child's early learning.
Transition Information Sessions project
Parent school partnerships project
Parent school partnerships project
funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
This project aims to:
- Improve outcomes for children through well supported parental involvement in education – attendance, achievement, behaviour
- Enable more schools to achieve better partnerships with parents
- Prime parents with appropriate information to enable them to engage confidently with their children's education
- Increase knowledge/awareness of good practice models and the benefits of parental involvement amongst schools, LEAs and teachers
We will work to achieve engagement across a range of settings and with a diverse range of parents. In particular we will focus on ensuring that the project reaches traditionally marginalised groups: minority ethnic and faith groups, fathers, economically disadvantaged and socially isolated parents including lone parents. Where possible we will engage with local networks to support participation and to help build social capital and an 'enabling' culture in which parent/school partnerships can thrive.
Sample schools will be selected to include inner-city as well as less densely populated areas, different sizes and demographic profiles.
Beneficiaries:
- parents, children and staff through participating schools
- the wider school community and beyond, through a programme of dissemination and neighbourhood and community networks
